Imagine this: Ava Archer, a tax attorney who desperately misses her childhood best friend, gets roped into a truly wild scheme. She has to impersonate her posh co-worker at an incredibly fancy party. Sounds simple enough, right? Except, who should she run into but her long-lost childhood friend, Desmond (Des) Sullivan? And Des? What I Loved (The Good Bits!):
Pure, Unadulterated Quirky Fun: If you're looking for a book that doesn't take itself too seriously, you've found it. The premise is delightfully absurd, and the situations Ava and Des find themselves in are genuinely comical. It's the kind of book that makes you smile at its sheer audacity.
The Bicker-to-Love Trope: Ava and Des's dynamic is definitely a highlight. Their initial interactions are full of sharp wit and the kind of playful antagonism that makes for great romantic comedy. You can feel their history simmering beneath the surface, adding depth to their present-day squabbles.
Unique Plot Elements: A tax attorney moonlighting as a socialite, a thief with a moral compass, and a secret society? It's not your average rom-com setup, and that's refreshing. It kept me engaged, wondering what bizarre turn the plot would take next.
Where It Lost a Star (For Me):
