The genius of this book lies in how these two separate cases, and two very different detectives, are brought together. As Leo and Ffion's paths cross, they uncover a web of secrets that proves people will go to extreme lengths to protect their carefully constructed lives.

My 4-Star Verdict

What makes this book so good is its relentless pacing and clever construction. The narrative keeps you engaged, constantly feeding you just enough information to piece things together—or so you think. The twists and turns are well-earned, and Mackintosh does a fantastic job of keeping the tension high.

I particularly enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters. Leo and Ffion are a great pairing; their distinct personalities and investigative styles play off each other perfectly, making their collaboration both interesting and fun to read. What I Adored About This Story:
